Keto Meat Lovers Deep Dish Pizza

As we’ve embarked on a road of healthier eating and have specifically focused on a low carb diet, we’ve found we are not sacrificing the things we like to eat the most, and for the most part have been able to satisfy our deep-rooted food desires. The one hangup has been pizza. How do we go from having pizza be a mainstay of our diet, to being able to eat it…once a year? The answer to this question is resoundingly our Deep Dish Low Carb Pizza.
This sausage crusted masterpiece came across our path from none other than our favorite Chicago pizza staple, Lou Malnati’s. Instead of your standard pizza – crust, sauce, cheese, toppings; the deep dish low carb pizza, from bottom to top, comprises of: sausage layer, sauce, cheese, pepperoni.  We were changed the first time we tried Lou’s version, but when we easily re-created it at home, that’s when we knew we were really onto something special.

We had to force ourselves into not making this recipe too often as to not get tired of it – it’s that good. We love making these for weekends away, nights when we want a quick and easy meal, and have even worked at perfecting a breakfast version. Coming soon!

 

 

Keto Deep Dish Pizza

Ingredients

  • 3/4
    Pound
    Italian Sausage
    ground or de-cased
  • 1
    Package
    Pepperoni
  • 1
    Package
    Fresh Mozzarella
    cut into slices
  • 1
    jar
    your favorite pizza sauce
  • 1
    tsp
    garlic powder
    optional
  • 1
    tsp
    crushed red pepper
    optional
  • 1
    tsp
    oregano
    optional
  • 1
    tbsp
    grated parmesan cheese
    optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Begin by flattening out your sausage into a circle on parchment paper or nonstick foil. This circle should be about 10 inches in diameter.

  3. Transfer your sausage on foil/parchment into a 9 inch cake pan. It should be just a little too big for the cake pan. Use the excess to create a « crust » to help hold the ingredients in. If you do not have a cake pan, using a dish that is a couple inches deep that is oven safe will work fine.

  4. Put in the oven for 10 minutes, or until brown.

  5. Drain/pat down excess grease.

  6. Top with fresh mozzarella. 

  7. Top with pepperoni (or any other ingredients you’d like to add).

  8. Top with pizza sauce and spread. 

  9. Top with garlic powder, red pepper, oregano, and parmesan. (Optional)

  10. Bake for an addition 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and toppings are hot.

  11. Enjoy!
